The Female Body and Its Anatomy at a Glance
The female body is a true marvel. Every day it achieves incredible things – often in the background, as a matter of course. The external genitals – protection, sensation and sensuality
The external genitals – also called the vulva – are often simplistically referred to as "the vagina". Yet the vulva is a distinct, versatile system with several parts, each with its own function and significance.
Mons pubis
The soft fatty pad above the pubic bone protects your bones and gives the outer intimate area its shape. This area is usually covered with hair – which also has a protective function.
Outer labia (labia majora)
These outer folds of skin enclose the intimate area like a protective shield. They can vary in size and contain sweat and sebaceous glands that contribute to natural care.
Inner labia (labia minora)
The inner labia lie within the outer ones and are usually much more sensitive. They protect the vaginal opening and the urethral opening. The structure of the labia is individual to each person – symmetrical or asymmetrical, smooth or folded, lighter or darker in colour. All of it is normal.
Clitoris
The clitoris is the central organ of pleasure. Even though only a small part is visible, it extends much further inside and consists of sensitive nerve tissue and erectile tissue. Its sole purpose: enabling sexual pleasure.
Vaginal vestibule
This area contains the entrance to the vagina and the opening of the urethra. It connects the anatomical structures and is richly supplied with blood and highly sensitive.

Fallopian tubes and ovaries
The fallopian tubes transport the egg to the uterus after ovulation. The ovaries control the cycle through the production of oestrogen and progesterone – and with it your mood, energy and body as a whole.
