Bladder weakness at any age

When it comes to the topic of “bladder weakness”, people are often embarrassed – and even more so at the word “incontinence”. Leaking, the smell of urine, a side effect of ageing – while with bladder weakness many still think “it's not that bad, just a few drops”, with incontinence many immediately think of nappies. The good news first: there are often treatment options and hygiene products that can restore a normal everyday life and give back quality of life. You can find out more about sustainable hygiene products for incontinence here.
Men and women of all ages are affected
One important fact right at the start: mild bladder weakness or urinary incontinence can occur at any age. Although men develop bladder weakness less often than women, it still affects around one in eight. While in women a weak pelvic floor is often responsible, for example after pregnancy or a vaginal birth, in men an enlarged prostate is often the trigger.
Bladder weakness: frequently asked questions
The most frequently asked questions about bladder weakness underwear
How do urinary incontinence pants work?
What makes our incontinence underwear special is our self-developed and patented SELENAtec® multi-layer technology. It is not only very thin but also highly absorbent and always feels dry and fresh to wear.

1: Moisture is quickly drawn away from the body into the inner layers.
2: Urine is safely absorbed, so the brief always feels dry and fresh. The antibacterial protection prevents bacteria and unpleasant odours from developing.
3: At the core there is a highly absorbent extra layer of protection that soaks up moisture and locks it in securely.
4: Thanks to the leak-proof protective membrane, the brief is impermeable to liquid and yet breathable.
5: The skin-friendly fabric in the outermost layer creates the discreet underwear look.
Despite the layers, the fabric technology is very thin. You can be sure that our bladder weakness briefs are just as comfortable to wear as normal underwear.
Are incontinence briefs hygienic?
Yes! SELENACARE and SOUVERÄN incontinence briefs are very hygienic, because unlike normal underwear the urine is safely absorbed and there is no feeling of moisture on the body.
The SOUVERÄN urinary incontinence underwear for men can absorb up to 60 ml of urine. The bladder weakness underwear for women safely holds up to 40 ml of liquid. Up to this amount, the briefs will not release any moisture to the outside that could come into contact with your clothing. The antibacterial layer also ensures that no unpleasant urine odours or bacteria can develop, so you always have that fresh-laundry feeling.
After wearing, simply wash the incontinence briefs in the washing machine at 30° together with the rest of your laundry. Then leave them to air dry and they are clean and ready to use again. The function of the briefs lasts for 60 to 100 washes; after that, they can still be worn as normal underwear.
How often should I change incontinence briefs?
As soon as the brief feels damp, you should change it. How often and how quickly that happens naturally depends on the degree of your bladder weakness. As with normal underwear, incontinence briefs should be changed at least once a day.
How many incontinence briefs do I need?
This depends on the severity of your bladder weakness and on your washing routine. If you run the washing machine frequently, you will of course get by with fewer briefs. And since the bladder weakness briefs can easily be washed together with the rest of your dark laundry, they need no special treatment. With mild bladder weakness, you should allow for 1 to 2 briefs a day. So that you don't have to do laundry every day, we recommend keeping around 5 to 7 briefs in reserve. You can also use the number of pairs of underwear you would normally have in your wardrobe as a guide.
Benefits of sustainable bladder weakness underwear
Benefits of sustainable hygiene products compared to disposables
While in everyday life more and more people are trying to avoid unnecessary packaging and plastic, the use of disposable items is unfortunately still the norm when it comes to bladder weakness and period products. Yet there are now more sustainable alternatives, such as our bladder weakness underwear. Which product you use in the end is of course a matter of taste, but we would like to introduce you to the benefits of sustainable products.
Washable incontinence briefs offer more reliable protection against leaks
Because reusable briefs have a larger absorption area, they can hold more liquid than disposable pads. That means you can feel secure for longer. The integrated, absorbent multi-layer technology quickly wicks moisture away and locks it inside, so you always feel dry.
Bladder weakness underwear does not smell
This is surely one of the main reasons why you should not go without a hygiene product to catch urine, even with mild dribble incontinence. Those affected often do not notice their own odour at all, whereas it is clearly noticeable to others. The antibacterial layer in the bladder weakness brief prevents odour-forming bacteria from developing, so you feel comfortable all day long and never have to fear embarrassing moments.
Urinary incontinence pants reduce waste because they are washable & reusable
