Incontinence panties for men
By SELENACARE Redaktion · 7 July 2022

Losing a few drops when sneezing, coughing or during physical activity can take away some of your joy in life. Very few people talk about it – incontinence unfortunately still counts as a taboo subject today. What many don't know: urinary incontinence or bladder weakness can often be treated successfully, or at least improved. On top of that, special and very discreet incontinence pants can help restore a better quality of life.
Is there a difference between (urinary) incontinence and bladder weakness?
While some men involuntarily lose urine when coughing or lifting weights, others feel a very sudden urge to urinate and can't make it to the toilet in time. This can range from a few drops (less than 50 ml) to complete emptying of the bladder (more than 250 ml). In everyday life, no real distinction is made between bladder weakness and urinary incontinence. While bladder weakness is often used to mean losing just a few drops, many people associate urinary incontinence with the bladder emptying completely.
Who is affected by bladder weakness?
Although men are less frequently affected by bladder weakness than women, it still affects around one in eight. Many people think incontinence only occurs at an advanced age and feel ashamed of it. In fact, a wide range of factors can contribute to bladder weakness even at a younger age. The most common cause of bladder weakness in men is an enlarged prostate. It mainly occurs with age. But various illnesses, muscle weakness, psychological causes and nerve dysfunction can also lead to incontinence. Because it's an uncomfortable subject for them, those affected often keep their bladder problems to themselves for a long time. Yet there are many forms of therapy and hygiene products available. We believe incontinence shouldn't affect your quality of life. That's why we developed the SOUVERÄN bladder weakness pants.
Incontinence pants combine the protection of pads or liners with the comfort of normal underwear. There is an absorbent pad in the crotch area. This protective zone consists of five functional layers and is still extremely thin. Unlike nappies or pads, incontinence pants can be washed and reused. Washable incontinence pants are a reusable hygiene product for managing bladder weakness. Unlike disposable products, they don't create new waste every day. The pants are recommended for all men who have problems with bladder weakness, as they are super practical and comfortable to wear, without any nappy-like feeling or anything slipping out of place. The pants are as comfortable to wear as normal underwear – and they look like it too.
How do incontinence pants work?
The heart of our pants is our self-developed and patented SELENAtec® multi-layer technology. It is not only very thin but also highly absorbent, always giving you a dry and fresh feeling. Our incontinence pants owe their function to five individual layers (SELENAtec®):
- First layer: moisture is transported immediately and directly into the next layer.
- Second and third layers: urine is safely absorbed. The pants always feel dry and cool. The antibacterial protection prevents the development of bacteria and unpleasant odours.
- Fourth layer: extra absorbent protection in the pants to lock moisture in securely.
- Fifth layer: the leak-proof protective film is foolproof and highly breathable, preventing sweating. The sixth layer: the skin-friendly fabric is no different from ordinary underwear.

Are incontinence pants hygienic?
Yes, incontinence pants are very hygienic. Unlike normal underwear, the urine is safely captured and there is no feeling of moisture on your body. The SOUVERÄN underwear for male urinary incontinence can absorb up to 60 ml of urine. Up to that point, the pants also don't release any moisture to the outside that could come into contact with your trousers. The antibacterial layer also ensures that no unpleasant urine odours or bacteria can develop, so you always have that fresh-laundry feeling. Of course, you should wash used incontinence pants regularly. That's easily done in the washing machine. You can even wash the pants together with the rest of your laundry.
How many incontinence pants do I need?
That depends entirely on how often you do your laundry. Since the bladder weakness pants can easily be washed together with the rest of your dark laundry, they don't need any special treatment. Assuming you have mild bladder weakness, you should plan on 1-2 pairs a day. So to avoid having to wash every day, we recommend keeping around 5 to 7 pairs in reserve. You can also use the number of underpants you usually keep in your wardrobe as a guide.
How do I wash incontinence pants?
It's very simple and straightforward. Washing incontinence pants is barely any different from washing the rest of your laundry. You can wash the pants in the washing machine – happily together with the rest of your dark laundry. Just make sure not to use any bleach or fabric softener. For the sake of the environment, and given that our bladder weakness pants are equipped with an antibacterial layer, washing them at 30 degrees is perfectly sufficient. You're of course free to wash them at higher temperatures, but this may impair their protective function.
